'A Farewell to Arms - The lost manuscript' by Gianfranco Sassu is a meta-fictional reimagining of how Ernest Hemingway’s famous novel
could have been, the work of a forgotten veteran named William Henry Harrison.

While writing his novel, Ernest Hemingway finds a manuscript on a second-hand bookstall.

It is a story that, like his novel, recounts the exploits of a World War I veteran in Italy.

Finding it much better than his own, he decides to track down the author, Bill Harrison, to acquire the rights and publish it under his own name.

Ernest pursuit Bill first in New York and then in Paris.

The story's end will unveil a bitter twist for both of them.

The times, the movements, the characters and everything else concerning Hemingway's life are absolutely faithful, the rest is the work of the author's imagination.

The story is totally invented by the author and has no connection with what actually happened to the protagonists of the novel, even though the references to Hemingway's life are completely accurate.

The author has only allowed himself to imagine a different scenario for a novel he did not like, and which he imagines was not even liked by its author either.

The novel is accompanied by beautiful watercolor illustrations
